April 2013: Tips, eNews & More!

April is Oral Health Month
Oral health is more than just clean teeth and healthy gums. Your healthy smile is a source of confidence, comfort and joy. It is often the first impression you offer others and is a powerful focal point.

Did you know that your mouth can also offers early warning signs of health issues throughout your body? During your dental examination we look for warning signs sleep or stress issues (such as grinding), side effects of medications, effects of diabetes, body imbalances and even oral cancer.

Take some time this month to learn more about your oral health, visit the Canadian Dental Association's Health Month section and feel free to ask us about any oral health topic.

Spring Cleaning!
This past winter was one for the books. Heavy snow and ice may have affected your home's exterior and has likely made some changes to your landscaping. While it is easy to see what has happened on the ground, we wanted to remind you look up! Damages eavesdrops can lead to future more expensive repairs and damaged tree limbs can lead to unexpected surprises or worse once the weight of leaves is added over the next month.

Until next month,

The team at Park Place Dental

We now offer "Orthodontics 4 Adults".

Dr. Omar is already treating patients at ParkPlace Dental Centre. This is very convenient for our adult patients.

Dr. Emil Svoboda spends most of his time practicing reconstructive dentistry involving dental implants. He says:

"I love it, because Dr. Omar can optimize tooth alignment prior to implant placement. This improoves overall treatment results. When teeth are spaced, treatment can lead to crown restorations that are too wide. When teeth are crowded or malaligned, it is often difficult to give a nice rounded smile with teeth in correct position. Poor tooth alignment often reduces the aesthetics of the final result. Working closely with Dr. Omar makes treatment optimization easier."

Dr. Omar uses Invisilign and conventional methods to align teeth to give you the nice smile you always wanted. Call to make your consultation appointment.

How to Brush and Floss Properly

Brushing:
  1. Use a soft toothbrush for thorough and gentle cleaning.
  2. Hold your brush at a 45 degree angle. Begin by brushing the outside of the front teeth. Use gentle, half-tooth wide, back and forth strokes.
  3. Next, brush the outside back teeth, starting along the gumline.
  4. For the inside back teeth, use short, angled brush strokes.
  5. For the inside front teeth, tilt the brush vertically, and use an up-and-down motion.
  6. For the chewing surfaces, hold the brush flat, and use a gentle motion.

Good oral health starts early. If you have children, then don't forget about our children's practice "ParkPlace Junior, General Dentists 4 Kids". Dr. Mary-Anne and Dr Kristina Lepholtz are dedicated to treating the smiles of children in a fun friendly atmosphere - in a facility designed "Only 4 Kids".

We now offer "Orthodontics 4 Kids".
Dr. Ziad Omar is the Orthodontist at our kid's practice. He is now setting up a screening program to allow us to identify kids that would benefit from preventative orthodontic services. This is designed to reduce the need for future "more complex" treatment. An ounce of prevention is usually better that a pound of cure! Dr. Omar is now taking appointments to assess your kids for preventative orthodontic services as well as conventional treatment modalities.
