August 2015: Tips, eNews and More!

It's summer, which means our social calendars are booming with trips to the beach, barbecues, camping, and more. Dentists recommend brushing your teeth a minimum of twice a day: once in the morning and once in the evening, along with flossing.

It's tempting to skip brushing your teeth after spending a long day at the beach with friends, eating hot dogs and drinking soda and having a great time. If you skip brushing your teeth because you're exhausted, you could wake up with a lot more bacteria forming in your mouth and an increased risk of developing cavities and other serious oral health issues. An easy solution is to bring a toothbrush with you wherever you go. There are numerous travel toothbrushes and toothpaste that can be packed into any bag you have. While having fun this summer, save your teeth and your wallet and pack a travel toothbrush. Your smile will thank you!

Eating fresh whole foods is great for your dental health! Remember, fresh fruits and veggies are available at the Brampton Farmers Market at Main and Queen in Downtown Brampton - open every Saturday from 7am - 1pm until October 10th.

Are you heading off to school next month?

Many post-secondary institutions offer health plans that include dental coverage. If you are enrolled in a post-secondary program, remember to look into the coverage offered to you. Your new school schedule may keep you busy, but always remember to make your oral health a priority.

Knowing that school will alter your schedule, now may be a good time come in for a cleaning and examination. Click here to request an appointment.

Until next month,
